Established on November 11, 1895, AWC is among Atlanta’s longest-standing women’s philanthropic organizations. We are a a diverse community of professional women–representing all generations and backgrounds–united by a single mission: to champion our local community through focused social, cultural, and educational initiatives.
Founded over a century ago by a visionary cohort of women, our organization was built on a foundation of purposeful service and community stewardship. Today, the legacy endures. Our members remain a dynamic force, dedicated to identifying critical community needs and upholding our tradition of philanthropic excellence for generations to come.
Our longevity and growth is a testament to the determination of our members, whose collective character defines our mission. We are an organization rooted in steadfast commitment to civic engagement–fostering a culture of empowerment, professional growth, and strategic teamwork. Through our service, we offer meaningful volunteer opportunities that yield both profound community impact and personal fulfillment.
Our historic contributions are woven into the city’s fabric, evidenced by our roles in establishing Atlanta’s kindergarten system, mobile libraries, and even the Atlanta International Airport. Today, the Wimbish House–a stately Victorian landmark nestled amidst the vibrant landscape of Midtown–serves as a premier venue for the city’s most momentous occasions. Proceeds from our facility rentals are directly reinvested into our philanthropic initiatives.
We invite you to join the succession of visionary women as we honor our legacy and continue our tradition of dedicated service to Atlanta and the state of Georgia.
We are an organization rooted in steadfast commitment to civic engagement–fostering a culture of empowerment, professional growth, and strategic teamwork.
